  • Pakistan: Qadirpur: The government of Pakistan (GoP) has approved 5 years extension of Qadirpur production and development lease up to 2017. 
  • Yemen: East Shabwa-Block-10: The JVP's approved the construction of Kharir Power Plant project after granting cost recovery acceleration from the Yemeni's Government. 
  • Acquisition of exploration block 51 - Vietnam updated.
  • Cendor project development plan ( Phase II ) approved by Malaysian government.

  • KPC board approval was obtained to increase KUFPEC Share capital to 1.2 Billion KD.
  • The company successfully reached 352 mmboe reserves by end of December 2011 almost double of 2010 yearend.
  • Wheatstone LNG Project: The WA-356-P Julimar/Brunello Development and Wheatstone LNG project FID's were signed on 26 September 2011 in Perth.
  • Balnaves Oil development: In August of 2011, Board approval was given for KUFPEC to participate in the Balnaves oil development in WA-356-P, Western Australia. 
  • Two new light oil discoveries were made in first half 2011 with exploration wells Oseil-Selatan-1 & Nief Utara-B1 - Indonesia. 
  • Malaysia – SB-312 made a commercial gas discovery with exploration well Menggatal-1 which was drilled in Q1 2011. 
  • Successful training implementation for 9 employees through attachment and secondment programs with operators. 
  • JV's partners, area offices and reputable business firms.

2012

  • KUFPEC succeeded in 5 acquisitions that included 2 producing, 1 development and 2 exploration blocks (UK North Sea-Australia-Philippine). 
  • KUFPEC was also appointed Operator in two exploration blocks: 75% of Jati Block in onshore Pakistan and 100% of WA-427-P in offshore Australia.
  • KUFPEC's net profit was US$ 201 million as of 31st December 2012. Total revenues for 2012 exceeded US$ 1.3 billion, which is about the same as 2011.

KUFPEC also increased its financial capabilities by obtaining both the preliminary approval of the Supreme Petroleum Council (SPC) to increase KUFPEC's investment capital from K.D 200 million to K.D 1.2 billion and approval of the General Assembly for a US$ 750 million corporate loan, in addition to using KPC's bridge loan facility during 2012.

  • KUFPEC maintained a net production rate of about 75,765 boepd – a 5% increase in the previous year's level.
  • During 2012, KUFPEC participated in 13 exploration wells resulting in 7 discoveries in Pakistan, Australia, Indonesia and Vietnam.

KUFPEC also participated in 45 development wells drilled in 2012.

Pakistan: A preliminary estimate of new gas reserves of about net 10 mmboe were added from drilling the Kadanwari-27 and Badhra North 1 wells.

Australia: The Fletcher-Finucane Oil Project achieved formal joint venture investment sanction for a new field development plan for production to start in mid-2013. 

KUFPEC entered into an arrangement to increase its stake in Fletcher field from 44.54% to 50% and Finucane field from 33.4% to 37.5% with the purchase of the Tap Oil interest. 

KUFPEC also renewed four exploration permits WA-335-P, WA-356-P, TP/8 and EP 358, renewed one production license WA-8-L, and received three retention licenses WA-41-R, WA-45-R and WA-46-R.

  • KUFPEC launched the fully sponsored “Birds of Kuwait” book in a ceremonial event during 2012. The hard cover book covers 400 pages with more than 350 local and migratory birds in Kuwait.

  • Acquisition of Norske AEDC AS which expanded our global footprint into the North Sea and the opening of our new regional office in Stavanger, Norway as KUFPEC's sixth regional office. 
  • Purchased additional equity of 4.0977% acquired from Woodside interest in Mutineer Exeter JV in Australia, increasing KUFPEC equity participation to 37.50%. 
  • KUFPEC purchased 15.3% of BP working interest in Yacheng Block in China Farmed-in into new exploration block (Cairngorm) in UK, North sea, operated by EnQuest. 
  • KUFPEC W.I. is 25%. Purchased 30% working interests in two licenses in Norway. 
  • KUFPEC acquired Shell's 8% equity interest in Wheatstone-Iago JV and 6.4% interest in Wheatstone LNG project.

2014

  • KUFPEC acquired a 30% interest of the liquids-rich Duvernay formation in approximately 330,000 acres of the Chevron operated leases in Kaybob area of Alberta, Canada. 
  • KUFPEC entered into three new exploration Production Sharing Contracts (PSCs) located in the South China Sea adjacent to the Yacheng pipeline. 
  • KUFPEC secured successfully two loans in 2013/2014 of total $2 billion to facilitate its growth expansion. 
  • Balnaves first Oil achieved in Aug 2014 with a rate of 6.9 MBOEPD. 
  • Pakistan - Jati: KUFPEC, as an operator. 
  • Malaysia - PM-304: Completed commissioning of FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessel) and achieved first oil from Cendor Ph-2. 
  • Indonesia – Natuna: Completed tie-in of Naga and Pelikan platforms to the Gajah Baru facilities. 
  • First gas under Domestic Swap Agreement from Gajah Baru commenced in July. 
  • First gas from Naga field achieved in November. 
  • Drilled and completed 1 exploration well and 6 development wells. 
  • Completed construction of Medical clinic in Pakistan. KUFPEC supported Royal Flying Doctor Services (RFDS) with $10,000 for the ongoing delivery of critical services in Western Australia. 
  • KUFPEC supported the construction of extra classrooms for girls' school in Jati area, Pakistan. 
  • KUFPEC launched a fund-raising campaign to encourage employees to help the Syrian crisis victims. In total, KD 10,000 was made in financial contribution towards the victims of the Syrian Crisis via the Kuwait International Red Crescent Society.

2015

  • Successful installation of the float-over topside onto the offshore Steel Gravity Structure and the completion of the LNG Tank One construction at Wheatstone LNG project in Australia. 
  • 11 of the 29 wells drilled in the Kaybob Duvernay shale project in Canada were successfully tied into production facilities. 
  • A senior corporate committee identified USD 103.2 million reduction in the forthcoming year budget covering both Capex and Opex expenditures. 
  • Achieved upgraded certification from ISO 27001:2005 to ISO 27001:2013 for Information Management Security Systems (ISMS) and obtained the certification for ISO 14001 Environment Management System. 
  • Release of a comprehensive book featuring Kuwait's coral reefs and marine ecosystems: “Coral Reefs of Kuwait”.

2016

  • KUFPEC signs a new Production Sharing Contract (PSC) for Malaysia's Offshore Block SK-410B. 
  • KUFPEC acquired upstream interests located offshore Norway in Gina Krog field and the Greater Sleipner Area.
  • On the occasion of KUFPEC's 35th anniversary, KUFPEC released a 10-minute corporate video documentary titled “KUFPEC: Energizing our Future”.
  • As part of its firm commitment towards environmental awareness KUFPEC publishes the “Coral Reefs of Kuwait” Book.

2017

  • KUFPEC Norway AS has reached agreement to acquire a 15% interest in the Gina Krog field from Total E&P Norge AS, a wholly-owned subsidiary of TOTAL S.A., for a consideration of $317 million with effective date of 1 January 2017. 
  • KUFPEC Announces Production Commencement from Wheatstone LNG Project in Australia. 
  • KUFPEC Doubles its Interest in the Gina Krog Field, Norway. 
  • KUFPEC Celebrates Wheatstone: KUFPEC and its joint venture partners on 1st December 2017 held a celebration in commemoration of the production startup of Wheatstone Project. 
  • KUFPEC CEO participates in the Upstream Conference Session of the 2017 AOGC, Malaysia. 
  • KUFPEC Tree Planting Event at Dasman Bilingual School.

2018

  • KUFPEC produced 100 MBOEPD at the beginning of 2018, recording the highest production rate since establishing the company in 1981. 
  • KUFPEC participated in the Offshore Northern Seas 2018 (ONS 2018) conference and exhibition in Stavanger, Norway. 
  • KUFPEC participated in the 42nd Indonesian Petroleum Association (IPA) Convention and Exhibition in Jakarta, Indonesia. 
  • KUFPEC conducted its 1st HSSE & Risk Management Annual Forum & CEO HSEQ Awards & Recognition Program ceremony. The event, which has been a resounding success, was conducted at the Four Seasons Hotel on 25 November 2018.

2019

  • KUFPEC signed License and Petroleum Concession Agreement in Pakistan. 
  • KUFPEC returned to Operatorship in Indonesia.

2020

  • 2020 witnessed the global spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic which created a health and economic crisis not seen in a century. 
  • KUFPEC quickly endorsed effective measures to deal with the crisis including operations' intensive follow up, and rationalizing expenses smartly, without affecting operations and strategic objectives. 
  • KUFPEC's Health Safety and Environment (HSE), under Technology Department in cooperation with Corporate Services and Human Resources, exerted all possible efforts to secure safe and healthy environment at workplace. 
  • KUFPEC achieved first oil from GNN-4 in Geisum Concession, Egypt. 
  • KUFPEC announced its prominent milestone in SK-410B Block, including the largest-ever hydrocarbon discovery and one of the world top gas discoveries. 
  • KUFPEC signed an Exploration and Production Agreement with the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) for the North Ras Kanayes Offshore Block. 
  • In Canada, KUFPEC completed the second, third and fourth stage of the developmental program in Kaybob Duverney Shale Gas Project.
  • In Australia, the Wheatstone LNG Project entered the “plateau operating phase” for the developmental projects of Julimar/Brunello and Wheatstone/Iago Gas Fields, achieving maximum production capacity of 11.19 MMTPA.

2021

  • KUFPEC and its partners have safely and successfully completed the first major turnaround for the Wheatstone LNG Project. The milestone was reached on 23 October 2021. 
  • KUFPEC Norway AS (KUFPEC) and the YME JV have started oil production from the Yme field in Norway. The milestone was communicated on 25 October 2021. 
  • KUFPEC confirmed its largest-ever hydrocarbons discovery. This discovery was proven by the Lang Lebah-2 appraisal well in the SK-410B Block located approximately 90 kilometers offshore Sarawak, Malaysia. 
  • KUFPEC partnership with Total 35% Operator, Shell 30%, and Tharwa 10% has signed an Exploration and Production Agreement with the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (“EGAS”) for the North Ras Kanayis Offshore block located in the Herodotus basin, offshore Egypt in the Mediterranean Sea (the “Block”). KUFPEC holds 25% participating interest in the consortium.

2022

  • As part of the decommissioning obligations on the Gyda field in Norway, the platform Topsides facility was successfully and safely lifted by the Allseas Pioneering Spirit vessel on May 23rd. 
  • KUFPEC Pakistan, with support from HO Exploration Department and Asia Region, have achieved a major milestone by planting 20,000 Trees of various species in Chakwal and Attock districts where Makhad Block (Operated Asset) is located. 
  • KUFPEC Indonesia (Anambas) B.V. (“KUFPEC Indonesia”) has successfully made a commercial discovery of gas and condensate in the Anambas Block, offshore Indonesia. 
  • KUFPEC Indonesia has spudded the first offshore exploration well for KUFPEC in Anambas Block, Natuna Sea.

2023

  • KUFPEC Norway AS, has been awarded the new exploration license PL 1174S by the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy (MPE) as part of the exploration bid rounds known as Awards in Predefined Areas (APA 2022). 
  • KUFPEC was awarded a 20% working interest in the license along with Equinor, the operator, with 60% and Petoro 20%. KUFPEC Norway AS, a KUFPEC subsidiary, divested its 10% equity in the Yme field by selling its 10% working interest in Production Licenses PL 316 and PL 316 B to Lime Petroleum AS.

2024

  • Divestment of KUFPEC Norway AS (“KNAS”) assets has been completed after being approved by the Norwegian authorities with an effective date of 1 January 2023. 
  • KUFPEC achieved another milestone through the successful exit of KUFPEC (China) Inc. from the People's Republic of China.

  • KUFPEC welcomes newly Appointed CEO Mr. Eisa Al Maraghy. 
  • BG international limited, an affiliate of Shell plc (Shell), and KUFPEC Egypt Limited (KEL) wholly-owned subsidiary of Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company, k.s.c.c. (KUFPEC) announced the Final Investment Decision (FID) for the development of the Mina West gas discovery, located in the Northeast El Amriya concession in the Mediterranean Sea. This strategic decision demonstrates KUFPEC's flexibility and commitment to deadlines in addition to alignment with its partners to meet the increasing market demands.

2026

  • KUFPEC has recently signed two strategic partnership framework agreements with Shell and TotalEnergies, reinforcing its long-term international growth ambitions. The agreement with Shell Kuwait Exploration and Production B.V. establishes a framework to strengthen collaboration in support of KUFPEC's global expansion strategy, while the agreement with TotalEnergies EP New Ventures aligns with KUFPEC's objectives to enhance asset value and expand its international upstream footprint. 
  • KUFPEC, through its subsidiary Energy Development Corporation (EDC) B.V., agreed to acquire a 20% participating interest in the Orca and Sul de Orca assets from Shell Brasil Petróleo Ltda, a wholly owned subsidiary of Shell Plc, with an effective date of 1 January 2026, subject to the required Brazilian regulatory approvals.
